The State Fair of Texas is an iconic event that brings together people from all over to celebrate the unique and vibrant spirit of Texas. While it may be known for its fun-filled attractions, delicious food, and top-notch entertainment, the State Fair is much more than just a 24-day extravaganza.

This beloved annual event is a 501(c)3 charitable organization! This means that while we all enjoy the festivities and delicious fair food, we are also supporting a great cause. The State Fair of Texas has been giving back to the community for decades.

At its core, the State Fair of Texas is a year-round celebration of all things Texas. Through its various initiatives and programs, the Fair works tirelessly to support and uplift its local and statewide community. The annual exposition, which is the largest fundraiser of the year, serves as a platform to promote and showcase the best of Texas.

But the Fair’s commitment to its community doesn’t end with the annual event. It goes beyond that through various initiatives such as the Fair’s scholarship program and Big Tex Urban Farms. These programs not only provide financial assistance to deserving students but also promote agriculture and education in the state. Additionally, the Fair also supports local businesses and vendors by providing them with opportunities to showcase their products and services.

The State Fair of Texas takes pride in its commitment to education, making it a top priority in its mission to serve the community. Through its Big Tex Scholarship Program, the fair has awarded over $17.4 million in scholarships to over 3,000 students. This program not only supports graduating high school seniors who have participated in competitive youth livestock events at the fair, but also extends its generosity to graduates from six Dallas Independent School District high schools in the Fair Park area, and seasonal employees and their dependents.

The fair’s dedication to education goes beyond its scholarship program. It offers exceptional learning opportunities for students at the local and state level, with a strong emphasis on providing high-quality programs and resources. The State Fair of Texas is committed to investing in the future of our youth through education.

The inaugural State Fair Saddle Up Fundraising Event, held on September 12 at The Rustic in Dallas, was a resounding success. Organized by the Big Tex Champion Club and led by Robert and Stephani Walne, with Kyle and Courtney Noonan as Honorary Chairs, the event was dedicated to supporting Texas students. The evening was filled with excitement, including a live auction, State Fair Midway games, and performances by country music stars Jon Wolfe and Cory Morrow. The proceeds will benefit the Big Tex Youth Livestock Auction and Scholarship Program, which has already awarded over $33 million in auction prizes and college scholarships. It was a memorable way to kick off the 2024 State Fair of Texas while making a positive impact on the lives of Texas students.

Mark your calendars for an unforgettable experience from September 27 – October 20, 2024! The State Fair of Texas is back and bigger than ever, bringing together agriculture, education, and community involvement in one epic celebration.
